The Big Toxins to Avoid

The purpose here is not to say products containing the chemicals below will harm your health. Rather we want to look at some chemicals that have been linked to a variety of health issues and as a rule of thumb don't belong on or in your body if you want to maintain and optimize your health. So when in doubt it is probably best to avoid these chemicals. It also happens these chemicals are found in many main stream personal care products so if you want to reduce your exposure to these chemicals you'll probably need to switch to a more natural product like Pure Stick as far as deodorants are concerned.
Aluminium
This wonder metal is great for building light sports cars but really has no place in your body. Once ingested or absorbed metals like aluminium and mercury have a way of embedding themselves in our fat tissues and are very tricky to remove.
Aluminium in particular has been linked to various cancers, dementia and Alzheimer's disease.  In a deodorant, aluminium's main job to is clog up the pores to reduce or prevent perspiration. The main difference between a traditional deodorant and an antiperspirant is the amount of aluminium used.  Antiperspirants have massive amounts of aluminium added.  Stay away at all costs.

Parabens
Parabens are a chemical preservative that prevent the growth of bacteria and mold and are used in most personal care products from shampoo to moisturizers. Unfortunately when it comes to what you put on or in your body any synthetic preservatives are a no no. However the big modern day issue with parabens is they have the ability to mimic the effects of a hormone called estrogen. Synthetic or mimicking estrogen's known as Xenoestrogens are found in countless products and wreak havoc on your health from a hormonal level. Hormone mimicking compounds need to be avoided at all costs. Let your body worry about making its own hormones. Synthetic sources of estrogen are linked to all sorts of cancers along with messing up your natural hormone production.
